Learn More About MPG
The MPG product line is engineered for high availability with a typical major overhaul interval of 40,000 operating hours. The exact duration can vary based on the site’s specific operating profile, including the frequency of starts.
To eliminate downtime during scheduled service, our MetisCare program guarantees uptime by providing a rapid (<48-hour) core turbine swap, ensuring your operations remain continuous.
The standard METIS Power Generation (MPG) product line features low emissions of 9 ppmv NOx and 16 ppmv CO. This performance level allows for deployments of approximately 80 MW without triggering the need for a federal Title V air permit, significantly simplifying the approval process.
For projects requiring larger capacity or stricter emissions control, MPG packages can be equipped with an optional Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system. This advanced configuration reduces both NOx and CO to below 2 ppmv. By utilizing SCR, the potential deployable capacity can increase to as high as 600 MW, with the final limit being subject to the allowable ammonia slip regulations of the local jurisdiction.
A unique characteristic of the MPG product line is its ability to be shut down and restarted on a daily basis without harming the turbine casing. This is a key differentiator that separates MPG packages from the vast majority of gas turbines on the market, which are not designed to withstand the thermal stress of frequent cycling. This capability is crucial for applications with high load fluctuations, such as data centers.
In a parallel configuration, this provides significant fuel savings. Individual units can be taken offline during periods of low demand, which allows the remaining turbines to operate near 100% capacity—their point of peak efficiency—drastically reducing fuel consumption.
The MPG units utilize advanced gas turbine technology to respond quickly to load fluctuation. This quick response time makes them ideal for meeting sudden increases in electricity demand or balancing grid fluctuations, ensuring a reliable power supply.
MPG packages can be offered with a dual fuel capability which allows the unit to operate on gaseous fuel (natural gas) or liquid fuel (diesel).
